Jakarta, PINUSPRESS – Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (E-TLE) or E-Tilang is currently being tested along MH Thamrin Road, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta starting from Monday (1/10).
During its first-day run, as much as 232 vehicles were recorded violating the traffic law. The violations occurred at 2 points equipped with CCTV: at Arjunawijaya Statue, near Monas, dan Sarinah Building, Central Jakarta.
According to Police Director of Traffic Kombes Yusuf, most violations are related to traffic lights and zebra cross.
All violations captured by CCTV are automatically sent to the local police Traffic Management Centre server to be analyzed. After that, a letter of confirmation will be sent to the vehicle owners. The process takes about 3 days. Then, the owner are required to do a clarification on the ETLE website, which can be downloaded from playstore or by sending a confirmation letter to the police. After clarification process, the violator have 7 days to pay the charge or their Vehicle Registration Certificate will be blocked.
On the fifth day of the trial run, police said that the rate of violations dropped by 40%. “The trend of number of violation declined from 93 violations (Thu/4/10) to 53 violations (Fri/5/10),” informed Kombes.
According to the data taken, from those 53 violations, there are 20 units of black plate (private vehicle), 3 units of yellow plate (public transport), 4 units of red plate (government vehicles), 7 units have the police and military plates, and 2 units are from outside Jakarta.
