ANNOUNCEMENTS
Here are some announcements from our PINUS EXCOs for the next two weeks.
1. PINUS DISASTER RELIEF
Hi PINUSians!
We hope that you can finally breathe again, stress-free, after finishing your midterms. If you have not, hang in there and it will be over soon!
As we continue with our studies, let us take a moment to remember the recent tragedy that hit our brothers and sisters in Palu, Sulawesi. The death toll from the quake and tsunami has risen to 1,550, while thousands are still missing. Meanwhile, hungry survivors have gone desperate and some have even resorted to looting in search for food.
As students, we may not be in the position to help the survivors directly. However, what we can do now is to donate a small part of our allowance to existing organisations. After all, sending money to professional relief organisations will allow them to purchase exactly what is most urgently needed by the survivors.
PINUS have decided to donate to ACT (https://act.id/) who are actively sending out rescue teams to several locations in Palu-Donggala. If you decided to help out, you may transfer your donation to:
Name: Eric Santoso
Account no. 582-371-456-001 (OCBC)
To help us easily identify your donation, please send us with a nominal ending of $0.12. *For example $10.12, $50.12, etc. Don’t forget to screenshot your receipt and upload it to https://goo.gl/forms/LfAE9FzqkSFDNn0k1 * . PINUS will help collate all your donation before transferring it to ACT’s account. Let’s act together!
2. P&A INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AMBASSADOR
P&A Exco would like to thank all respondents for your input to the PINUS student ambassadors program. We have met the admissions office to discuss the implementation of the program. We’ll keep you guys updated once we roll it out officially.
3. FREEZE OF EVENTS UNTIL NUANSA
PINUS Exco will not organise any PINUS events effective from week 6 up to week 9 (when nuansa happens). Please stay tuned for updates on events for week 10 onwards.
4. HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION ECONOMICS (HOME) IS RECRUITING
Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (HOME) is looking especially for Indo-speaking volunteers to support HOME’s effort in assisting and empowering domestic workers who find themselves victims of human rights violations and suffer abuse and exploitation. In addition to that, they provide education and training programmes to enhance the wellbeing and future economic prospects of migrant workers.
HOME has agreed to come and present to PINUSians regarding their organization and the various volunteering opportunities available – with differing levels of commitment preferred.
